Are you thinking about financing a new home in Glendale? Lisa Bartlett, REALTOR can help.

Stressed out about applying for a mortgage? You don't have to be. I have excellent relationships with various lending companies in the Glendale area, and they've helped me recognize some things that can make the process of applying for a loan a snap.

1 – Create a list of questions about your loan program

Be sure to have a list of questions if you find that you don't thoroughly understand the ins and outs of all the different loan programs. It's hard to know the characteristics of both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my lenders will assist you with understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each one.

2 – Decide when to lock

When you lock in a rate, it means that the mortgage lender commits to the interest rates for the loan – commonly at the time the loan application is submitted. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between application and issuance of closing documents. Those who decide to float think interest rates will dip in the near future. 3 – Determine if you want to pay additional points to lower your interest rate

If you choose to pay additional points to lower the rate of your loan, you'll pay for them in cash at the time of closing. Every point is 1 percent of the mortgage loan. If you're unsure if buying points is the best option for you, click here to use our points calculator.

4 – Compile your paperwork

Acquiring a mortgage loan requires a lot of paperwork, so you should spend some time getting your documents together. Click here to get a feel for normal information that goes on a loan application.
